Class Parent Job Description

 

Support Faculty

á       Support Faculty with logistics and communication among families (e.g. find drivers or chaperones for field trips, make phone calls or start the phone tree.)

á       Inform teachers of your role as class parent.

á       Communicate needs of faculty to parents.

á       Bring the needs of the parents and the students in the class to the attention of the faculty.

á       Help with orientation of new families in the school community.

á       Be available to answer questions from parents about the role of parents at YIHS

 

Communication

á       Create class phone tree and distribute to families.

á       Contact parents to remind of parent meetings or begin the phone tree.

á       Attend Parent Meetings when possible and contact facilitator for updates when unable to attend.

á       Stay up with all information coming from the school, i.e. Weekenders, policies, events, etc.

 

Parent Peer and Care Group

á       Be available to serve as Parent Peer on Care Groups when necessary

á       Facilitate communication among parents about social life of students outside of school, health issues, time management issues, etc.

á       Call class meetings when needed.

á       Organize and work with the class or individual students in specific areas of responsibility delegated to that class. Different tasks are assigned to each class, such as;

9th-   orientation of new families to the school

10th -- help the 9th grade get started, call the first 9th grade class

          meeting to elect class parent

11th-- year book, help with graduation, college trips

12th – graduation planning, college trip, senior progects
