For a few weeks in September and October of 2005 directly after the devastation of hurricane Katrina, students and parents of YIHS traversed the deep south to Mississippi where there was an Organic Valley refugee relief kitchen set up in Waveland. While braving the heat and blood thirsty mosquiotes they managed to cook for thousands of people a day.
