Welcome from our Faculty Chair:
Imagination, truth, and responsibility. These three ideas lie at the heart of the experience of education at the Youth Initiative High School. As the name indicates, we seek young people who are ready to take the initiative in shaping their own lives. This means, above all, a decision to take responsibility. Are you ready to be more than a passive consumer of your schooling? Are you ready to dig in and work hard to make your school experience an excellent one for your fellow students and teachers, as well as for yourself?
Youth Initiative is also a place for seekers of truth. Are you curious about the world and about yourself? Do you want to know how things work, not just with your head, but also with your hands and heart? Do you have an urge to get to the bottom of things, to really know what it is all about?
We are a school that not only aspires to educate but is also a place for young people ready to take the step beyond learning and into imaginative creation. We seek young people with the courage to create and to invent, be it in the arts, in writing, in scientific discovery, or in collaborative school governance.
Imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility – if these qualities speak to you, we would love to hear from you.

"YIHS is a true investment in both community and education. By entrusting a wide variety of community members to pass on their knowledge and skills, the school forges a bond between the classroom and the world outside it. Teacher, student, and subject are brought together in a meaningful and relevant way."
