Application Process

Step 1. Get in Touch.
GIve us a call or shoot us an email to get in touch.  We would love to hear from you.

Step 2. Visit.
Interested students should schedule a two-day visit here as the first step in this process. We want you to see what we’re all about, and experience the full range of classes you would be taking. And, we need a little face-to-face time to understand what brings you to us. You’ll sit in on appropriate classes and meet with students and faculty members. The goal is that you will leave with enough information to make the decision whether or not to apply. We also usually arrange a Q&A with the student, parents, and a few faculty.

Step 3. Apply
Fill out the application form and send it back to us (either through the mail or scanned through email). We will review your application and call you to talk about a possible interview.

Step 4. Interview
Individual applicants will come back and speak with faculty members and students about their application and expectations. Applicants should bring a piece of work with which they are especially pleased, and be prepared to talk about it. If you are submitting a piece of writing, please send it in with your application so that we can read it prior to your interview.

If you live far away, we may be able to arrange a phone, Skype, or Google Hangout interview.

Step 5. Financial Interview
Once all previous steps have been completed satisfactorily, parents will fill out a financial pledge form and meet with a member of the Finance committee to discuss the school’s budget and their financial expectations.

All students are admitted to YIHS on a probationary basis for the first six weeks. At the end of this period a Care Group will be called to decide upon full enrollment status.
