YIHS Student Living Cooperative
A Springboard into Adulthood

Picture
Over the years Youth Initiative High School has welcomed students from all over the world, including Thailand, Mexico, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, Pakistan, Morocco, Japan, Korea, China,  Russia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Colombia, Canada, and the United States.

The Freedom of Responsibility
Students help to weave and maintain the fabric of the house by working alongside the house parents and one another.  Through communication and commitment we build an environment of care and intention, creating a community that honors individual diversity while holding each other accountable.

A School in the Heart of Organic Farming Country… Is it for You?
Located in rural Viroqua, Wisconsin (pop. ~4500) and surrounded by the rolling hills and valleys of the Driftless Region, Youth Initiative offers a curriculum that reflects the unique opportunities of this place.

Schedule a visit or inquire about becoming a student at Youth Initiative by phone at 608-637-6445 or by emailing our Boarding Program Coordinator Bean. You can find more information on the application process here.

Home is Where the ❤️ Is

currently A House and Home for Many
Our Student Living Cooperative house boasts eight bedrooms and five bathrooms — enough room to host up to twelve boarding students! Located on 8 acres of land nestled within a safe and quiet neighborhood, our secured-entry house is within biking and walking distance of the school, our local health food co-op, and the downtown area.

A Dormitory AND a Homestay Experience
The YIHS Student Living Cooperative is a unique experience. As a boarding student, you will be living with a roommate in our single-gender rooms, but you will also be living with a family. With regular family meals, communal homework and play areas, and caring host parents, you’ll feel right at home.

One of the Lowest Boarding Fees Anywhere
The fee for our boarding program is just $8,500, which includes room and board as well as transportation to and from school. Our tuition and boarding fee combined is significantly less than most other schools' tuition alone.

Schedule a visit or inquire about becoming a student at Youth Initiative by phone at 608-637-6445 or by emailing our Boarding Program Coordinator Bean. You can find more information on the application process here.
