DAVE
began teaching at YIHS when he moved to Viroqua in 2012. Being a kid who never liked school, teaching in a school was not something he saw for himself. However, he had lots of positive experiences with expeditionary models of learning in high school, college, and beyond and has always had a passion for walking alongside humans in adolescence, being outside, and exploring big ideas. Luckily, YIHS is nothing like the schools he grew up going to and getting to teach at YIHS and help bring expeditions into the fold of the curriculum has been one of the best experiences of his life and he hopes to be involved for a long time to come. He is continually inspired by and grateful to all the people who dedicate so much effort and heart to the school and especially to individual students when they need it. He also designs and builds homes and lives with his wife and two daughters outside of Viola.
