ERIK
grew up in Boulder Colorado, actually outside of Boulder on two acres of land in Eldorado Springs. His family raised and cared for a variety of animals including geese, pigs, donkeys, horses and a gelbvieh calf. As an undergraduate he studied biology and chemistry at a small liberal arts school in SW Colorado and then completed his masters degree in biology with an emphasis on plant-insect interactions through the University of North Dakota. From '97 to 2011 he worked in North Dakota and helped raise his daughter Claire. Claire is a law graduate from UND and is currently clerking for a federal judge in Fargo. In 2011 he moved to SE Minnesota to farm with his uncle and brother. By 2017 he had the pleasure of integrating his life with Vicki and her family and soon after he began teaching at YIHS. His main focus at YIHS is chemistry and physics. He also teaches gardening, carpentry, auto mechanics, and cartography. Outside of YIHS, he fills my time with several projects including - starting a new business centered around soil biology, serving as an executive board member for an international NGO that is looking to build a regenerative agriculture vocational school in Oromia Ethiopia, and managing and renovating family-owned apartment buildings.
