Many Youth Initiative students play high school sports. YIHS students, girls and boys, can fully participate with the Driftless United Futbol (soccer) team, the Tri-County Basketball team, the Viroqua Blackhawk Hockey team, which have junior varsity and varsity levels. YIHS has its own WIAA-certified girls volleyball team--the Lazers! Sports such as football, baseball, basketball, track and field, tennis, cross country and others are offered through the local public school. With special arrangement, YIHS students can participate in these sports.

Catch the Fever!

Coach Paula and the girls have completed 4 exciting seasons of volleyball. The team practices and plays a full schedule of games from August to mid-October.

Track & Field

Running, throwing, and jumping there’s something for everyone in track and field. Coached by former YIHS board-president Adrian Ugo, YIHS athletes have played important roles over the past few years. In 2015, the Viroqua High School Girls' track team won the Coulee Conference title with help of star runner and YIHS student Jaali Parrish.

Football

Several YIHS students have played and are currently playing for the Viroqua team, showing their skills and determination on the old gridiron.

Hockey

Wisconsin loves hockey and YIHS has long participated in the local team, which has boys and girls, junior varsity and varsity teams.
